Pre-conferencetutorials will be held at the Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), which is the largest and most wellknown school of Engineering, Science and Technology inPortugal. Since its creation in 1911, IST's mission is to provide top quality higher education, as well as to develop Research, Development and Innovation activities according to the highest international standards. A vast number of courses in cutting-edge engineering areas, at undergraduate, Master and Doctoral levels, are nowdays offered at IST. IST is also actively involved in several networks and international programmes to promote student mobility, both at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Through a large number of agreements with other institutions worldwide, IST participates in more than 20 Dual Master Programmes, and joint PhD Programmes with MIT, CMU, UT-Austin and EPFL.

 

IST fotoIST is composed of the Alameda Campus in Lisbon and Taguspark in Oeiras. The Alameda Campus was built under direction of Duarte Pacheco, and was concluded in 1937 by Profírio Pardal Monteiro, who designs for the first time, a university campus in Portugal. The Alameda Campus benefits from transport network that facilitates mobility to all the areas of the city. In its vicinity, there are many shopping, leisure, culture, entertaining and sports areas.

The Alameda Campus of IST is located in one of the central.most parts of Lisbon, on Av. Rovisco Pais. It is easly accessible using the subway or the Bus. The closest subway stations are Saldanha or Alameda and there are several buses, that stop in Av. Rovisco Pais (16, 22, 40, 718, 720, 767), Alameda (7, 22, 40, 718, 720, 767) and Saldanha (16, 36, 44, 83, 718, 726, 727). Buses 16, 726 and 742 can take you directly from Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation to IST. The walking distance from Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation is about 20 minutes.

The Tutorials will be held in conjunction with the COST Action IC0702 Summer Course on "Soft Computing and Statistics" in the Civil Engineering Building IST at the Alameda Campus, see map below.

On the first day of the conference (July 20th), registration is also open at the same location.

Internet Access

Eduroam (EDUcation ROAMing) is available in all campus. There is also limited wireless interenet access for the conference participants. Please bring your own laptop to access the system.
